News from our Director! by Stacey Shook

Spring (and the pollen) is definitely upon us! NBA staff and families have been actively participating in many local activities such as the All in For Autism and the Can Do! events.  We are extremely proud of NBA learner, Spencer Neher, for his first place overall finish in the Can Do! 10k last year, for which he was recognized for this year, on stage. We are also very proud of our learners that participated in the local and state Special Olympics! We can’t wait to see what is in store next year when the Special Olympics USA Games come to Seattle!

This June, a number of NBA learners are graduating from high school and heading off to traditional and nontraditional college programs, as well exciting District transition programs; we wish them all the best of luck, and are so proud of their accomplishments!

More babies have joined the NBA Family!  Within a 4 day span this April, Daphne Pamer and Everett Anderson-Macy made their appearances.  Congratulations to Garyfalia and Mallory’s families!  More recently, on May 30th, Amanda George-Ray welcomed her second daughter, Norah Louise George-Ray.

We also welcome Anna Rosen, as our newest member of our Community-Based Instruction Program. Anna was promoted from tutor to this position, where she will be assisting Randee Wagner, CBI Coordinator, in the management of the program. We are delighted to have Anna in this new role, especially as Randee continues to coordinate the program both on-site and remotely. Randee’s husband, Ken, is now employed as a commercial pilot based on the East Coast so Randee will be commuting to Bellevue monthly from their new home base.

NBA has a busy summer planned with art camps, enhanced cooking groups, a “Day in the Life” half and full-day programs, and our enhanced Summer Small Group Intervention Program, which now includes Puberty Groups.

Thank you to all of NBA’s families, friends, and supporters!  Your continued dedication to our mission is awe inspiring and very much appreciated.

Thanks so much,

Stacey Shook, PhD, BCBA-D
